Dermal fillers are used to restore contour and fullness to the face and to soften wrinkles and folds that appear with age. Dr. Alison Black and Brooke Smart, FNP use the latest injectable fillers to smooth furrows and restore volume in a natural, balanced way to give you a refreshed and more youthful appearance.
Radiesse®, approved in 2006, is a calcium-based gel filler used to fill moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds (the creases that extend from the corner of your nose to the corner of your mouth) and marionette lines, from the mouth corners to the jawline. The gel base of Radiesse® provides immediate filling of the wrinkles and folds. Because the tiny calcium spheres may stimulate your own collagen, Radiesse® typically lasts longer than hyaluronic acid-based fillers, sometimes six months or more.
Do Radiesse® injections hurt?
As with any filler injections, Radiesse® injections can be painful. A topical anesthetic will be applied to the area to be treated, and Dr. Black or Brooke Smart, FNP may use a dental block (injectable anesthesia) if needed to reduce discomfort.
What can I expect after treatment?
Immediately following treatment mild redness, bruising or swelling may be present. These typically resolve within a few days. An ice pack will be applied to the area after treatment to reduce swelling and bruising.
How do I know which filler I want?
Dr. Alison Black or Brooke Smart, FNP will evaluate the areas you want treated and determine which filler will give you the best results. Sometimes a combination of fillers and muscle-relaxing toxins is used to achieve the desired effect.
