What is Radiesse™?
Radiesse™, approved in 2006, is a calcium-based gel filler used to fill moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasal labial folds – the creases that extend from the corner of your nose to the corner of your mouth. The gel base of Radiesse™ provides immediate filling of the wrinkles and folds. Because the tiny calcium spheres may stimulate your own collagen, Radiesse™ typically lasts longer than hyaluranic acid-based fillers, sometimes six months or more.

Do Radiesse™ injections hurt?
As with any filler injections, Radiesse™ injections can be painful. A topical anesthetic will be applied to the area to be treated, and Dr. Black may use a dental block (injectable anesthesia) if needed to reduce discomfort.

What can I expect after treatment?
Immediately following treatment redness, bruising or swelling may be present. These typically resolve within a few days. An ice pack will be applied to the area after treatment to reduce swelling and bruising.

How do I know which filler I want?
Dr. Black will evaluate the areas you want treated and determine which filler will give you the best results. Sometimes a combination of fillers is used to achieve the desired effect.
