Sculptra® Aesthetic
The evolution of the wrinkle filler has led to an amazingly effective product
called Sculptra® Aesthetic. Sculptra® replaces the natural volume (fat) loss
that occurs as we grow older – this loss of volume is what is responsible for
the appearance of age.
This is a very important concept and one that explains why a facelift may be the
wrong thing to do or only part of what to do if you want to look younger! A
young face has fullness and roundness in the cheeks, under the eyes, in the lips
and around the mouth. This fullness causes light to reflect with very little
shadow. The human eye is drawn to reflected light.
This volume replacement fills the skin so that it is lifted. Not surgically with
scalpel and sutures, but lifted by the formation of your body's own collagen -
collagen that was created in surrounding the microscopic particles that make up
Sculptra®.
Dr. Alison Black is pleased to offer her patients Sculptra®, a long lasting
treatment approved by the FDA that works gradually to give you subtle yet
noticeable results that can persist over 2 years. Sculptra® is approved for
restoration and/or correction of the signs of facial aging including fat loss of
shallow to deep nasolabial fold (smile line) contour deficiencies and other
facial wrinkles. It is the first FDA-approved product of its kind that
stimulates your body to replace collagen lost during the aging process.
Sculptra® is a safe, synthetic, and biocompatible material that is injected
below the surface of the skin in the area of facial aging. It provides a gradual
and significant increase in skin thickness, improving the appearance of folds
and sunken areas. No skin testing is required.
The effects of Sculptra® were shown in a clinical study to last for up to 2
years after the first treatment session. The results from Sculptra® are not
immediate; Sculptra® provides a gradual increase in skin thickness. Usually it
takes 3 – 4 sessions spaced out by 4 – 8 weeks between the sessions to complete
the treatment. Dr. Black will see you again in a few months after the initial
series of injections to decide if additional injections are needed. Touch-up
treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effects.
