Tattoo Removal & Laser Treatment
of Blood Vessels
Laser Treatment of Tattoos
It seemed like a good idea at the time! Unfortunately, for many people, getting
a tattoo is something they grow to regret. Luckily, there is a procedure that
can help remove or considerably lighten tattoos.
Dr. Black uses a Q-switched Nd:Yag laser system to remove tattoos from most any
area of the body. The pigment in the tattoo absorbs the laser’s light, breaking
up the areas of dye. The body’s white blood cells then remove the shattered
pigment over the next several weeks, leading to visible lightening of the
tattoo.
Is it painful?
Dr. Black uses injects a local anesthetic to numb the skin, so there is minimal
discomfort.
How many treatments are needed?
It depends on the color, amount, and depth of the pigment in the tattoo. In
general, amateur tattoos take fewer treatments than professional ones and black
pigment is easier to remove than bright colors. Treatment can take 3-15
sessions, and rarely, more.
Laser Treatment of Blood Vessels
Sun damage, rosacea, and some people with very fair skin can get tiny visible
blood vessels (telangiectasia) on the face. Dr. Black uses the Aura™ KTP laser
to remove them, usually in a series of 1-3 treatments, with no downtime. For
extensive telangiectasia and sun damage, Intense Pulsed Light treatment can be
used.
