Las Colinas Dermatology is pleased to introduce SculpSure® laser body contouring to our practice. SculpSure®, FDA-approved in late 2015 for noninvasive fat reduction of the flanks and abdomen, uses controlled heat energy to target fat cells and destroy them. The body’s immune cells then clear away the damaged cells, causing the treated area to shrink.
How SculpSure Works
Is SculpSure® treatment painful?
There is a sensation of warmth with treatment that is mildly to moderately uncomfortable but the laser settings will be adjusted so that your treatment is well-tolerated.
How long does a treatment take and how many are usually needed?
Treatment sessions are 25 minutes for 1-2 body areas. Typically you can expect to see about 20-25% reduction of the fat in the treated area. Many patients get excellent results after just one treatment. For areas where more fat needs to be removed 2-3 treatments may be needed.
Is Sculpsure safe for darker skin? Is it safe during the summer?
The SculpSure laser cools the skin surface while the deeper layers of fat are being heated, which protects the skin from side effects, so SculpSure is safe for all skin types and can be performed any time of year.
Is there downtime with SculpSure?
There is no downtime with SculpSure treatment. You can return to work and exercise immediately. The treated area may be slightly tender and feel slightly firm or nodular for a couple of weeks after treatment. Your body will begin to clear away the targeted fat cells in the next few weeks.
When will I see results?
You will begin to see results in 6 weeks, but final results can take as long as 12 weeks after treatment. As a rule you can expect to see about 25% reduction in fat in the treated area and since the fat cells are destroyed, they will not regenerate.
