BOTOX® is a purified toxin injected into dynamic wrinkles – wrinkles caused by movement. It temporarily relaxes the overactive muscles that cause the wrinkles, giving a smoother, softer, more relaxed appearance. It is FDA-approved for the treatment of frown lines between the brows and crow’s feet around the eyes, and Dr. Alison Black and Cheryl Sundlov, PA-C also often use it to soften horizontal forehead lines.
How Long Does It Last? Is It Safe?
BOTOX® has been safely used worldwide to treat a variety of conditions for more than twenty years. Results last about four months, after which the lines gradually recur with movement.
What Can I Expect? Will My Face Lose Expression?

BOTOX® injections are carefully tailored to each patient’s facial lines to avoid an expressionless look. The result will reflect a natural look that will subtly turn back the hands of time, while avoiding a “frozen” appearance.
Treatment takes only a few minutes and discomfort is minimal. Within a week you will see a marked decrease in facial expression lines and wrinkles. The most common side effect (though rare, happening in 1-2% of treatments) is temporary drooping of an eyelid or eyebrow.
